Preparing my project BMW Z3 to go back on the road after winter
In this video I take you round to where the BMW Z3 has been stored over winter, do a walk-around to see what is needed to get it on the road ready for an MOT test so I can start driving it again.
So far it looks like I need a rear shock absorber and 4 new tyres, which get fitted this time round.
What else do I need to check up on the BMW Z3? Let me know in the comments or where you think I should visit with the Z3.
Also, the mystery car in the video, post in the comments what car you think it is that we have stored away!

We decided to go along to the Classics On Show in Stokesley, North Yorkshire and show you a few of the classics and modern classics we saw. This is arranged by the Rotary Club of Stokesley and it was a really good event despite the rain pouring down! We spotted some great cars on show, notably a lovely condition Volvo 480 whom I've now met the owner and also their partner owned a lovely VW Scir...
Project Volvo480 - Starting, testing brakes and moving it on the driveway

This is the latest video on my 1994 Project Volvo 480 2litre ES that I've been working on for years restoring it! This time I'm testing out what else needs to be done on it to get it to the MOT. Does it start? Do the brakes work? Do all the lights work? Any leaks, exhaust problems, fuel problems, etc. There is one huge issue though. The front windscreen has a large crack along it which would fa...

This time I'm replacing the sensor that is down the front by the air cooler. Hopefully replacing this will resolve the fault codes being thrown up. First video: ua-cam.com/video/irpttyygKp4/v-deo.html The genuine Volvo sensor that is in the fault code P023600 I suspect is at fault has the part code 0261230294 and also DEU 31355462 and a compatible part also appears to be 0261230293 from Bosch. ...
Project Volvo480 - Exhaust repair and custom fabrication

I decided to finally solve my 1994 Volvo 480's exhaust problem where it didn't all fit correctly. I didn't realise I'd end up fabricating my own exhaust using steel exhaust tubes and couplers to solve the problem of aftermarket (supposedly pattern parts) not fitting correctly. In the end I retained the Catalytic converter, cut away the pipe and resonator and rebuild this part so that it didn't ...

    Just changed one tonight. Got the back-box from EuroCarParts, same-day click and collect. Although I wouldn't recommend it, I jacked up the left side of the car whilst on ramps to make some space and avoided putting myself under the car whilst manhandling the exhaust over the rear axle. Glad to see I'm not the only one with disintegrated heat shield retainers.

    Had the same issue on my 2014 qashqai.. On closer inspection of the pipes I could see evidence of soot on the red pipe and a crack about as big as my finger. After a great deal of fiddling and laying over the engine, I managed to undo the nut holding the sensor to the engine. This allowed a little bit of slack in the pipes. By twisting the clips, it twisted the pipes and very carefully I was able to remove the sensor. I then cut the offending pipe which enabled me to slide off the two cut ends. Replacement was easy, the new pipe slipped on and although I wasn't able to put the clips back in place, they are attached to the pipe still. I felt that nonce I had bolted back the sensor, the pressure on the pipes would keep them in place. The two pipes cost 7 and 14 pounds, so a total of 21 quid plus vat. Very pleased to have got them in place although my arms were a bit sore from being down the back of the engine, cleared the fault light and so far so good! Really pleased to find this video so thank you very much!

    • @junkendriven
      @junkendriven Місяць тому

      @@petkozhivkov4271 if it's the auto gearbox, you'd probably get a raise in revs without power (like car going into neutral, a rev then it re engaged). Is it worse when car/transmission is hot? If so then yes could be the autobox fluid needs changing. I had mine done a year ago and it definitely improves the gear changes as they became smoother. I have a leak at the base and can see it’s coming from the water escape valve- strangely, it only starts leaking after the tub has been on for 10 minutes or so, I’m pretty confused and not too sure what to do next! Great vid mate

      If it's the older egg type it might be the mushroom valve as I had that issue, the spring weakens. I think I included it in one of my videos but you could check and replace the rubber and spring in that ua-cam.com/video/ow31JY_mdKg/v-deo.html

      Thanks for that mate. Out of interest, should a “bit” of water be coming through the one-way valve inside the tub, when it’s all disconnected? At the moment- with a full tub and it disconnected from the egg, there’s a small trickle of water coming from the tub through the jet hole. Is this normal? If not, then I figure it’s building inside the system when connected to the egg and is ‘activating’ the “safety”, thus it leaks the excess.

      @@danielchamney4177 No problem Daniel. Ah ok, so no you shouldn't have water coming back from the air/jet hole. That suggests the seal in there needs replacing. I did a video on that too! ua-cam.com/video/ow31JY_mdKg/v-deo.html it's quite an easy fix, fiddly but cheap and easy so I'd say that's a good next step to try as your assumption is correct, too much flowing back and yes it will dump that out the bottom of the pump.
